August 2001 marks the successful completion of the 3-1/2 year long restoration of Walden Trail. Starting at
the 4-Way in 1997, and ending on the summit of Passaconaway this year, the goal
was to completely restore the eroded treadway. Over 10,000 hours of labor
(mostly by volunteers) have produced approximately 500 rock steps and water bars, plus numerous other
stabilization measures.

comments from our crew leader.
