In recent years the WODC and the Squam Lakes Association have used the Mead Conservation Center (previously Mead Base) to house their summer trail crews.  But Mead CC also has a rich history that goes far beyond its present role as crew housing.

During the Summer of 2001, a Research Associate was recruited through the Student Conservation Association (SCA) to compile a complete history of Mead CC.  After months of research, Tom Okie compiled the following 25-page report.
